FAMILY HISTORY AND STORIES
The Parker Brothers - and the Native American connection
Excerpts From a Letter by June Parker to MZ Dated December 8, 1992
"I can get lost for hours just watching story develop from the statistics. Did you know that Uncle John (Warren's brother) marred little Fannie Jane when she was only 14 years old? He was 29, although he claimed to be 24 on the marriage record; and she gave her age as 21! Eight months later, Fanny died of "peritonitis" - in the process of childbirth no doubt. Her death information states she was 14 years, 10 months and 18 days old. Five months later John married Elizabeth Black at which time he states his age as 24 and claims the marriage to be his first.
Patrick (Warren's oldest brother) apparently married Laura Black. a sister of Elizabeth. Although family records state that all of his children were born in New Brunswick, there are Carver records of children being born here and his death records state he was a resident of Plymouth for ten years.
There are many Micmac Indians with the name Black, and this may be where the rumors started of our having Indian blood. Of course, neither family would have passed any our way. Both Black girls came from New Brunswick in spite of statements to the contrary in given records....."
