notice that you have not given the publick an account of our great Loss in the Death of that Worthy Gentleman, Daniel Parker Esq;
of the West Precinct in this Town, and Concluding the Reason to be, your
want of Information from us; I take the Freedom to send you this brief
count--He was Born in this Town. He Died on Monday Dec. 23 last, was about 59
Years of Age, and was Buried the Wednesday following; just 14 Months after Col.
Otis, __ Died on Sept. 23 the Year before, and whom He followed in chief Place
of our Court of Common Pleas; in which He had sat as a Judge about 16 Years.
Under considerable Disadvantages in his Education, He by the remarkable
Strength aod Quickness of his Genius, had made an uncommon Progress in the
Knowledge of Civil and Ecclesiastical affairs, and particularly of the Law. He
had a very acute solid Judgment, a quick Apprechension and a ready Speech;
which joined with his Piety and Love of Justice, and of the ___ Goad, made him
very eminent and Useful in this county; And his Death is a great Blow to us. He
has sometimes served as Representative for this Town in the General Court,
wherein He made a very Conspicous Figure,
one of the leading Members, and greatly honored the Town that sent
him."

food technology program, joined the Illinois Tech staff in
April of this year (1948). A native of Massachusetts, he was graduated in industrial biology at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1923. He was dairy technologist
in the Baltimore Research
laboratory of the National Dairy Products Corporation for several years and
later was quality supervisor in the Danville, IL, plant of the
same concern. From 1936 to 1944 he was manager of production for the Beatrice
Foods company in Chicago, and from 1944
until his Illinois Tech appointment
he was a private food technologist.

Executive and Consultant, born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1899. Prepared
at New Bedford High School and received his BS degree in Industrial Biology. During his undergraduate
years, Milton was a member of
the Chemical Society. Married Louise Randall Smith of Martha's Vineyard. They had one
daughter, Oriana Joy and one son, Brian Prescott, who received his BS degree in
Quantitative Biology at MIT. '53. Milton was associated with many food companies in charge of products manufacture,
quality control and production development: Walker-Gordon Laboratories
Company; Philadelphia Dairy Products
Company, Inc.; National Dairy Products Corporation; Beatrice Foods
Company; and Sea Products Corporation of New Bedford as President and
Director. He was also professor and director of Department of Food Engineering,
Illinois Institute of Technology from 1948 to 1961 and remained active as a
Consultant. He was a registered professional engineer in the State of Illinois. He held sixteen United States and two Canadian
patents involving food and animal feed products, chemical products, food
processes, chemical processes and control equipment developments of commercial
significance. He was author of several articles and more than fifty papers on
technical subjects dealing with foods, chemicals and public health and
published four books on "Elements of Food Engineering 11 and "Food
Plant Sanitation". Milton was a member of the American Chemical Society,
Fellow, American Institute of Chemists, American Society of Engineering
Education, American Society of Agricultural
Engineers, American Society of Animal Science, Illinois Farm Bureau and
Sigma Xi fraternity. He resided at Route 2, Box 105, Barrington Hills, IL 60010.
